Serving Together

The Church Council and its committees work together to help Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church live out our call:

Worshiping God, Growing in Faith, Serving our Neighbors, and Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Personnel

The Personnel Committee serves as a liaison between the congregation, Church Council, pastors, and program and support staff. The committee helps support healthy communication and collaboration among staff and church leadership.

Property

The Property Committee cares for the congregation’s physical spaces and facilities. This includes:

  • Maintenance, repairs, and improvements.
  • Annual inspection and inventory of church property.
  • Care of the lawn, landscaping, parking, and driveways.
  • Equipment needs.
  • Planning for future building or expansion projects.
  • Annual review of church insurance policies.
Finance

The Finance Committee oversees the financial life of the congregation. Its work includes:

  • Monitoring the congregation’s financial operations and staff.
  • Reviewing financial software and recommending updates.
  • Overseeing the counting and deposit of offerings.
  • Reviewing monthly income and expenses.
  • Recommending adjustments as financial circumstances change.
  • Preparing the annual operating, capital, and mission budget.
Education

The Education Committee oversees Christian education opportunities for people of all ages. This includes:

  • Wednesday Word and Sunday School.
  • Vacation Bible School.
  • Adult Education.
  • Confirmation instruction.
  • Continued development of Christian education programs.
  • Educational curriculum, materials, and equipment.
Stewardship

The Stewardship Committee helps the congregation grow in its understanding and practice of stewardship. The committee develops opportunities for members to consider and share their time, talents, and financial gifts, including an annual program encouraging growth in giving.

Worship & Music

The Worship and Music Committee oversees the worship life of the congregation. This includes:

  • Planning and preparing worship services.
  • Coordinating the care, storage, and inventory of worship materials, including paraments and banners.
  • Supporting the work of the altar committee.
  • Establishing guidelines for music used in worship, weddings, funerals, and special services.
  • Altar Guild is resopnsible for the beautification and maintenance of our worship space.
Welcoming

The Welcoming Committee focuses on fellowship, connection, growth, and outreach within the congregation and community. Its work includes:

  • Following up with worship guests.
  • Welcoming and orienting new members.
  • Supporting Faith and Care groups.
  • Maintaining the church library.
  • Coordinating church communications and publicity.
  • Encouraging members to participate in the life and ministry of the congregation.
  • Reaching out to inactive members.
  • Providing fellowship opportunities throughout the year.
Mission & Social Concerns

The Mission/Social Concerns Committee connects the congregation with local and global needs and ministries. The committee:

  • Highlights global mission and the work of the church around the world.
  • Supports local ministries and needs, including food assistance, community meals, housing assistance, and family support.
  • Raises awareness of local and global social concerns.
  • Creates opportunities for members to participate in mission and service.
Youth & Family

The Youth and Family Committee supports children, youth, and families in participating fully in the life of the congregation. Its work includes:

  • Supporting the pastors in youth and family ministry.
  • Developing youth ministry opportunities, including church camp, music, ELCA gatherings, and community outreach.
  • Creating meaningful opportunities for family service, fellowship, and recreation.
  • Including youth voice and leadership, with the goal of having at least one high school youth serve on the committee.
Country Coon Prairie Church Preservation Inc.

CCPCP inc. is an independent 501c3 with the mission to restore, maintain and share the historic Country Coon Prairie Church, its history and heritage for current and future generations.
